2023 Volkswagen ID.4: three things you probably didn't know

With any new vehicle that hits the market, a period of discovery follows. At Volkswagen, with the new ID.4 electric SUV, we wanted to make sure that the latter would prove interesting.

Indeed, when you come up with a revolutionary electric model, why serve the same sauce when it comes to the rest of the configuration? That's why the Volkswagen ID.4 is full of original touches for all its occupants. So let's put aside the familiar elements of this vehicle (range, powertrain, size, etc.) to see what makes it so unique.

Here are three things you might have missed.

Configurable cup holders

All vehicles today are equipped with cup holders, usually all located in the same place, in the center console. The Volkswagen ID.4 is no exception to this rule, but it does give you a rather unique configuration option.

First, at the front of the center console, there is a space where dividers are present for you to put whatever you want. The beauty of this is that the dividers can be moved to fit the size of what you want to put there. They can also be removed or placed so that you can put your phone on them, for example. Then, behind more in the center of the console, there is another space, under a cover, where there are cup holders. The area includes a mold that can be moved to the section at the front if you want to have your drinks there. In short, you decide where your console spaces will be located. A system as simple as it is ingenious.

How do I lower the rear power windows?

With a four-door vehicle, there are usually four buttons on the driver's door for lowering each window. However, the ID.4 only has two buttons, which are initially used to adjust the front windows. So how do you do it? Just above it is the REAR label. Just tap this touch surface once and the letters will light up. At that point, the two switches act on the rear windows. Pretty cool!

The touch buttons

We often talk about touch buttons in modern vehicles. The Volkswagen ID.4 is full of them, and often for amazing things. At the touchscreen, it's obviously what we've become accustomed to, but for example, turning on the overhead reading lights is as simple as tapping on the light. The same goes for opening or closing the sunroof; you slide your finger across a smooth surface and the system does it. And some of the buttons have surprise functions. For example, the heated seats function is on the screen, but tapping twice on the touch button on the dashboard activates the heated seats.

In short, the Volkswagen ID.4 stands out in many ways. If you take the time to come and check it out, you'll definitely have the chance to find other fun and unique features to this vehicle.
