The Volkswagen ID.4 is still a fresh product on the market but this doesn’t prevent it from receiving a number of changes that make it more affordable and more convenient than before.
The new entry-level version
The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 welcomes a new base model in its lineup. Called simply ID.4, this version comes with a smaller battery and rear-wheel drive in order to offer a lower starting price. Its 62-kWh unit is sufficient to provide the ID.4 with 336 kilometres of range and its single motor sends 201 horsepower to the rear wheels. To benefit from the longest range possible, the ID.4 Pro uses the same motor but replaces the battery with an 82-kWh unit that affords it a range of 443 kilometres. In order to improve traction in winter and performance on dry roads, this version can be ordered with an all-wheel drive system that adds a second motor, on the front axle. This reduces the range to 410 kilometres but it bumps the power output to 295 horsepower.
A number of slight revisions
The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 benefits from many small improvements throughout that make it a more refined and user-friendly vehicle than last year’s version. These changes include the modified center console which is now higher and more capacious, while also featuring a fixed center armrest in place of the two separate armrests of the 2022 model. New colours have been introduced to the lineup both for the interior and the exterior, where the headlamps, the wheels, and the bumpers have all been changed slightly for the new model year. A 12-inch infotainment screen has also been made standard instead of the previous 10-inch unit.
The Statement package
To add more luxury and distinction to the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4, the Statement package is now available. This package includes the heated rear seats, the three-zone automatic climate control system, the 360-degree camera system, an improved premium sound system, and leatherette inserts in the door panels. The exterior appearance of the ID.4 with the Statement package can also be improved by adding the available black roof.
